Therese J. Hayes is a BCBA with over twenty five years of experience working with children from age 3 through adults in a variety of settings, including in-home, clinic, public, and private education. She is experienced in assisting parents and teams with their individual needs in order to find consistency within the ecosystem of their day. Ken Bonomo
For 31 years, Ken Bonomo was an educator in several suburban school districts that varied in size, culture, and socioeconomic status. He started his career as a high school teacher and coached football and wrestling. Ken continued his teaching career as a high school dean of students before becoming a middle school assistant principal. As the assistant principal, Ken supervised the special education staff and helped create 2 new classrooms for students with emotional disabilities. Ken was an elementary school principal for the last 16 years of his career before retiring in July of 2023. Students with special needs hold a special place in Ken’s heart, and he is proud to have advocated for these students throughout his career.
During Ken’s career, he believed that for the child to succeed, there needed to be a partnership between home and school. As a non-attorney, educational advocate, Ken strives to help build a collaborative relationship between parents and schools so that the child receives the education and services he/she deserves. Ken provides comprehensive file reviews, helps parents understand and navigate the IEP process and the education system, and attends IEP meetings. Ken is a member of the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates (COPAA) and recently completed their Special Education Advocate Training 1.0 course. Ken is a COPAA Member and SEAT 1.0 Certified.
Dr. Darrell Echols
Dr. Darrell Echols has been involved in education for over 30 years. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theater Arts from Ohio Wesleyan University. He later pursued further studies in Educational Leadership at Aurora University. He earned his Master’s Degree in 2005 and Doctorate in Educational Leadership in 2012. Dr. Echols taught seventh grade Language Arts at Hill Middle school. He later served as the dean of students at Waubonsie Valley High School for three years, before becoming principal at Orenic Intermediate School in Plainfield. He rejoined his Indian Prairie School District 204 family in 2010 when he was named the principal at Hill Middle School. He served at Hill from 2010 until 2014. Dr. Echols took over as principal at Metea Valley High School in the fall of 2014, and during his tenure the school has received several awards including a listing in the US News and World Report Best High Schools in America, a Grammy Award for the music program in 2016, and rated an exemplary school in 2018 and 2019 by the Illinois School Board of Education. Dr. Echols was named the DuPage Region High School Principal of the Year in 2019. He is a student-focused administrator who believes that partnering with parents and community members is essential to enriching the total learning experience at Metea Valley High School. Dr. Echols resides in Aurora with his wife, Terumi, and daughters, Keisha and Shawna.
Charles (Chuck) Parsons
Mr. Charles A Parsons Jr is a certified Special Education Director and School Psychologist in the state of Illinois. He has been in the education field since 1978 and has been a Director of Special Education for multi-county special education cooperatives and for individual school districts assisting in program delivery and services to a range of children who have special needs in the schools. Mr. Parsons has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Masters’ degree in both School Psychology and Educational Administration. While attending undergraduate school, Mr. Parsons received the departmental honors award for educational accomplishments in relation to his peers in psychology. As a school administrator in Special Education, he was instrumental in writing and gaining funding for initial programs in early childhood for his district along with funding for students birth to three. Chuck has worked in both elementary and high school districts in Illinois for more than forty years. Along with these skills, he trained in the legal aspects of program delivery for special education and was a Level I Hearing officer for the State of Illinois in special education disputes. Mr. Parsons continues to provide School Psychology services to children in Illinois for multiple districts on a consultative and direct service basis to this day.
